Junior Livestock Auction
Open to the Public
To be held at
Clallam County Fairgrounds
Rabbits and
chickens will be sold between large livestock species.
General
information:
Prior to
the auction the animals will be weighed and graded. This information will
be available on a bidder's information sheet given out at the auction.
Steers will weigh at least 1,000 lbs. Miniature steers over 1,000 lbs. will
compete with standard size steers. The buyer only has to pay up to 1,550 lbs.
Lambs will weigh at least 90 lbs. The buyer only has to pay up to
170 lbs.
Hogs will weigh at least 220 lbs. They buyer only has to pay up to 300
lbs.
Slaughter, cutting, wrapping & smoking fees are the responsibility of the buyer:
Buyers must make arrangements immediately after the auction for both payment and
slaughtering. 2009 slaughter and cut and wrap fees are available from the
Individuals and business are encouraged to bid on and buy the animals.
Bidders may partner together to purchase animals if desired.
Buyers will be presented with a photo-board and gift of appreciation for
their support.
Note: Any amount paid over market price is considered a donation and may
be used as a tax deduction. Also, if you
wish to support one or more of the youth involved in the Clallam County Junior
Livestock Auction and cannot use the meat, you may "turn" the animal. You
will pay the difference between your bid price per pound and the market price
per pound. The animal will then be sold at market price to a predetermined
buyer.
All the market animals will be on display throughout the fair day, August 20 -23rd.
Stop by the barns and visit with our 4-H & FFA members and ask them about their
project animals prior to the auction.
